March 2009 Update
The National Health Council joined the Coalition Against Major Diseases (CAMD). This coalition is sponsored by the Critical Path Institute, in collaboration with the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution. The initial work of this coalition will focus on pre-competitive projects that create standards and a common research support infrastructure including pooled data from clinical trails to establish a computer model for one or more major diseases. It will begin with focusing on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, then expand to other diseases.

Myrl spoke on Regulator and Public Health Approaches to Minimizing Medical Product Risk from the Consumer Representative Perspective. She also participated in a panel titled “Communication, Management, and Minimization of Medical Product Risk: Is Responsibility Truly Being Shared?”
