Patient advocacy organizations need your support to advance the development of new treatments and cures and to improve access to appropriate health care for people with chronic conditions.
To ensure your donation goes to a worthy patient organization, the National Health Council (NHC) has created this easy-to-use Giving Guide, which lists the nation’s leading national patient advocacy organizations that meet the highest levels of transparency, accountability, and ethical practice.
All of the organizations listed below have completed the NHC’s Standards of Excellence Certification Program®, which goes beyond the requirements of many charity watchdog groups and is unique to the patient advocacy community.
Compliance with the Standards is determined by a thorough analysis of each organization’s corporate documents, such as bylaws, audited financial statements, and annual reports, and the completion of an in-depth survey. This review covers organizational governance, human resources, programs, fundraising, finance, accounting, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
Look for the Standards of Excellence logo on an organization’s website and printed materials to guarantee that your charitable donation will be used efficiently and effectively to help patients live better and healthier lives.
