The Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) is a national non-profit organization that provides grants and funding for special projects and studies directly associated with community pharmacy practice and the advancement of patient care services by pharmacists.

CPF’s primary purpose is to assist community pharmacy by providing resources for research projects to encourage new capabilities and continuous improvements in the delivery of patient care. Its vision is to be a catalyst for community pharmacists to engage in patient-centered collaborative care, resulting in a healthier population that values the pharmacist as an essential health care team member.

The CPF strategic plan guides the organization’s grant making to advance community pharmacy by supporting initiatives that align with its areas of strategic focus and provide the next great idea to advance the practice of pharmacy in the community setting. Essential criteria the board utilizes in its decision-making process to award a grant are:

  • is it or does it have potential to be financially sustainable;
  • is it transferable to other community pharmacies and non-proprietary; and
  • is it replicable in other community pharmacies.

CPF joined the National Health Council (NHC) in fall 2018 to enhance our awareness of the issues, needs, and successes of people with chronic diseases and disabilities and their family caregivers to help guide our grant funding and resource development. The diversity of the more than 125 national health-related organizations provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders focused on ensuring and enhancing patient access to quality care.
