The following statement is from NHC’s Chief Executive Officer, Marc Boutin, JD:
The final short-term insurance plan rule is incredibly disappointing – especially in light of overwhelming opposition coupled with other, recent actions by the administration. These plans are simply not an option for anyone with a chronic condition, as they will likely be denied coverage for having a pre-existing condition. Worse, by creating a parallel market of subpar health insurance plans, it is a near-certainty that the costs for comprehensive insurance plans will increase dramatically, putting health care out of reach for many. We now call on state regulators to put a stop to the proliferation of these so-called skinny plans.
